Sex Toy University

So many toys to choose from, so many different materials, so many shapes and sizes! Oh my! Where do you start? Which one is best? How to choose?

Don’t worry, we’re here to help! We’ve developed this general information guide just for you. (As long as no one is reading over your shoulder, this page is safe for work – but the links are not so please be careful. We don’t want you to get into trouble for a little harmless educational material. ;)

What’s the difference between a vibrator and a dildo? Dildos don’t generally operate on batteries, and therefore don’t vibrate. Glass dildos are a good example of this.

Vibrators and dildos come in a wide variety of materials: hard plastic, silicone, glass, gel or jelly and rubber or latex.

Glass dildos, as expected, are solid and hard to the touch. They’re always impeccably smooth. While often cool in temperature, they can be warmed for added pleasure and are very easy to clean.

The silicone vibrators have a lovely, soft flesh-like feel and are similar in temperature to the room. They tend to be very comfortable, and often flexible. 100% silicone is considered the top of the line when it comes to vibrators. It’s easy to clean, and hypoallergenic.

Hard plastic vibrators, as their name suggests, are rigid and firm. The hard plastic makes them easy to clean.

Gel or jelly vibrators are usually rubber based, are soft and have a little “give”, just like silicone. The material is slightly porous, and while it can be washed, the material can not be disinfected so should not be shared.

Rubber or latex vibrators also have a soft, realistic feel to them. They’re room temperature, so there’s no surprising “cold” feeling.

Have a latex allergy? Don’t feel alone – tens of thousands of adults are allergic to latex! For years doctors weren’t able to diagnose the allergy. Luckily, times have changed and manufacturers have come to the rescue, They now recognize many folks have a need for non-latex materials. The first three varieties (glass, silicone, and hard plastic) should be fine for those with a latex allergy.

Did you know sex toys aren’t just for solo pleasure - for that ‘party of one’? There are many lovely toys for couples. Check out the couples toys! One of my personal favorites are these vibrating cock rings. It helps prolong his erection, and adds extra stimulation for her!
